Lighting and shadowing on The Camel's Fort building helps to showcase the most important landmark of the 19th-century building, which goes unnoticed during the day but stands out at night by reinterpreting the space using light and shadow. It's as if everything is magically submerged. With a total power of 350W at maximum intensity, significant energy savings are achieved, and the control system automatically adjusts consumption to suit each need based on usage time, while creating ever-changing scenarios to Increase the vitality of the space.

The project to expand the fortifications of Melilla, drawn up in 1867, proposed several watchtowers, one of which is located in Cerro Camellos. It was finally completed in May 1885.

The lighting system at the time consisted of 400W metal halide flood projectors, which consumed a lot and gave a flat interpretation of the space at night and when electricity was used, which made it overlooked.

Taking advantage of the upcoming renovation of Fort Los Camellos, Mnb Architecture studio, led by Mr. Mohamed Najim Bourich, replaced the lighting in the project and entrusted the task to Architectural Lighting Design studio. Thus, new electrical infrastructure can be integrated into the building. The team of designers chose a lighting design that, through the play of light and shadow, will highlight the most important landmarks of this heritage site and give visitors a more prominent and dramatic visual effect than during the day. Special 15X40º optical luminaires are planned for grazing lighting, so that the light emission in the upper hemisphere will be as little as possible, while creating a chiaroscuro between the defensive part and the crown that surrounds it.

The interior of the watchtower uses VT-C302 4-way output to adjust the dimming independently, dimming in 4 different directions, and it can be adjusted internally according to the constant falling of night. The outer wall and periphery of the watchtower use VT-C301 one signal and four outputs. Uniform dimming makes the watchtower extremely dynamic from the outside, and the combination of lights also adds a sense of mystery to the watchtower. Attracting tourists to stop and watch.

There is negative lighting on the metal grille of the main entrance and grazing lighting with flexible LED strips on the entrance bridge. In addition, the facility is equipped with a Bluetooth control system that optimizes the total consumption of 350W to a minimum level as needed, while generating an ever-changing light scene at night, giving the space greater vibrancy.
